Custom domain DNS records

Understand the DNS records BaseStack asks paid users to configure for custom domains.

Overview

Custom domains are available on paid plans for published sites. BaseStack shows the DNS records needed for verification and routing in the custom domain panel.

Typical records

Key points

  • TXT verification record: proves you control the domain or hostname.
  • CNAME record: points a subdomain such as www.example.com to the BaseStack target.
  • ALIAS, ANAME, or flattened CNAME: used by some DNS providers for root domains such as example.com.

Setup tips

Key points

  • Copy the hostname and value exactly from BaseStack.
  • Do not include extra spaces, quotes, or protocol prefixes unless your DNS provider requires them.
  • Remove conflicting records for the same hostname.
  • Wait for DNS propagation before retrying verification.
  • Keep the published BaseStack site active while the custom domain is connected.

Provider screens vary

DNS providers label fields differently. If you are unsure, send support a screenshot of the record editor with sensitive account details hidden.
